Student Council
From our school Constitution:
The purpose of the Student Council is to serve as an organization to hear concerns made by students and to mediate these concerns to the faculty and the administration in an amicable, respectful, and tactful manner, as well as to lead various projects and service work aimed for the betterment of Morristown-Hamblen High School West and the surrounding community.
Meetings are held in room A226 every Wednesday after school. Elected members of StuCo are required to attend, but meetings are also open to any student or faculty member who would like to attend. Only elected members may vote.
Student Council members are required to maintain at least a 2.81 GPA and have good attendance and behavior records. Applications for 10th-12th grade officers will open in April for the following school year, and 9th grade will open in August after school starts.
Student Council and Executive Council are sponsored by Jennifer Cobb (cobbj@hcboe.net) and Brittany Long (longb@hcboe.net).
Executive Council is a branch of the Student Council established to improve the connection between elected officers and students from a variety of social and athletic groups at Morristown West. The coach or sponsor of each club, sport, and organization can select one student to represent their group on the Executive Council. Its members, serving as intermediaries, have the opportunity to share their groups' perspectives on StuCo agenda items and encourage more students to get involved in school activities.
